Simulation as mean of solving communication problems due to multicultural variations in Maritime Еnglish.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of simulation and role-playing games as means of preparing future seafarers for professional communication on board ships, as well as to assessing their effectiveness and potential success. The necessity of implementing the proposed measures into the educational process of higher maritime educational institutions is substantiated. The author discusses the advantages of simulation gaming technologies and role-playing games, examines the communicative skills required by IMO Model Course 3.17, and determines the selection of topics and activities for Maritime English classes. Стаття присвячена аналізу імітаційної та рольової гри як засобів підготовки майбутніх моряків до професійного спілкування на судні, для оцінки їх ефективності та потенційного успіху. Необхідність застосування запропонованих заходів до навчального процесу вищих морських навчальних закладів була обґрунтована. Автор статті обговорює переваги імітаційних ігрових технологій і рольової гри, вивчає комунікативні навички, необхідні для модельного курсу ІМО 3.17, для визначення вибору тем і заходів для уроків англійської мови.
