Advantages and disadvantages of multiple choice questions for marine engineers testing materials.

Abstract

Тези спрямовані на максимізацію переваг та мінімізацію недоліків питань з множинним вибором, так як вони, ймовірно, будуть постійним елементом тестів за морським і освітнім стандартам. При реалізації компетентнісного підходу в нашому навчальному процесі ХДМА виникла наступна ідея: підтвердження компетентності на ділі шляхом її демонстрації та оцінки. Як наслідок, може використовуватися перевірена форма тестування компетенції, яка складається з тестів. Вони охоплюють компетенції всіх сфер навчання, функції та рівні компетенцій та стандартыв, включених в Конвенцію ПДНВ. Актуальність використання цього виду контроля полягає в тому, що вони можуть бути швидко оновлені, об'єктивні, прості у виконанні і перевірці. The theses aim at maximizing the advantages and minimizing of disadvantages of multiple choice questions, as they are likely to be the continuing feature towards marine and teaching standards. When implementing the competency-based approach in our studying process of KSMA the following idea comes forth: the confirmation of competence will require its demonstration and evaluation. As a consequence, the “old” form of verifying the competence can be employed that consists of tests. They cover the competences for all departments, functions and levels of responsibility included in the STCW Convention. Using these tests has several positive moments, they are following – tests can be quickly updated, they are objective, valid, simple and available, able to be checked quickly. Certainly, there are some challenges in test forming.
