Approaches to identifying the psychological, motivational states of navigators in ergatic systems

Abstract

The human factor is recognized as the primary cause of catastrophic situations in maritime transport. Researchers worldwide analyze potential causes of marine disasters to enhance safety. However, identifying the reasons behind shifts in mariners' customary behavior patterns during navigation remains challenging, especially due to the absence of a permanent psychologist on board and the limited use of psychological assessments. Studies indicate that an individual's mental motivational state influences task execution, particularly in critical situations. This article examines the dependencies between captains' motivational states and their actions during maritime maneuvers. It analyzes four behavior models and their corresponding dominant motivational states. Special attention is given to studying the psychological aspects of navigators' mental motivational states and identifying the primary causes of their emergence. Another crucial aspect is the time factor in task execution during navigational watch under risk conditions. Людський фактор визнано основною причиною катастрофічних ситуацій у морському транспорті. Дослідники по всьому світу аналізують потенційні причини морських аварій з метою підвищення безпеки. Однак визначення причин зміни звичних моделей поведінки моряків під час навігації є складним завданням, особливо з огляду на відсутність постійного психолога на борту та обмежене застосування психологічних оцінок. Дослідження показують, що ментально-мотиваційний стан особистості впливає на виконання завдань, особливо у критичних ситуаціях. У статті розглядаються залежності між мотиваційними станами капітанів та їх діями під час морських маневрів. Аналізуються чотири моделі поведінки та відповідні домінантні мотиваційні стани. Особливу увагу приділено вивченню психологічних аспектів ментально-мотиваційних станів навігаторів та визначенню основних причин їх виникнення. Важливим аспектом є також фактор часу в процесі виконання завдань під час навігаційної вахти в умовах ризику.
